CFC Shalford vs Bocking United

Braintree & North Essex Sunday League Division 1

CFC continued their good form by comfortably winning against struggling Bocking United.

Shalford fielded the same Eleven from their crucial win last week and were not disappointed as they took control of the game in its early stages.

The first tie between these two teams prior to Christmas saw CFC dominate the game with nil return, as a single goal gave the visitors today all three points.

CFC were in the mind set that they owed Bocking and were going to make them pay.

With 17 min's gone a break down the right hand side saw Shalford’s 'on form' Bensley become provider by cutting back a cross to the edge of the box, finding Pitt who struck the ball first time to see it rebound of the far post.  The ever alert Roberts was in a position to pick up the scraps and push the ball into an open net.

Shalford continued the pressure and had Bocking rocking in their boots as wave after wave of attacks came their way being saved two or three times by the post or crossbar.

Bensley got on the score sheet by converting a corner from Pitt 35 minutes in, the ball swinging in low and hard, finding Bensley on the far post unmarked to double their lead.

Babet had a few chances in the last few minutes of the first half but Bocking’s keeper making sure the game wasn't out of reach before the half time whistle.

Half Time:  CFC Shalford 2 Bocking 0

The early part of the second half was important to Shalford. The scorer of the next goal was going to dictate how this game was going to pan out.

The pressure in the first half from Shalford had continued but Bocking found pockets of good fortune and tested the redundant CFC Keeper Johnson.

Shalford created so many chances in the second half but seemed to be missing that final execution. Some of the decision making was a little to be desired by the players as the easy ball was often ignored. Bensley finally took the pressure off by slotting home a cross goal shot into the far post 56 minutes.

A great move down the left saw Babet and substitute Buckley combine to put Bensley in the position to finish off another polished performance Bensley completed his hat-trick in the 82 min's by converting a pinpoint cross from PITT to confidently shoot pass the outstretched keeper, He has now marked up an impressive 22 for the season.
